Counselors

Camp Old Hickory is always looking for individuals that are ready to be a part of a fun, active, fast paced camp environment.

  • Horseback riding skills a plus but not required.
  • Certified Red Cross Lifeguards a plus but not required.
  • Age ranges from 15 years old to college age students.
  • Flexible weekly scheduling is available to accommodate those who are very busy and may only have a limited number of weeks available throughout the summer.
  • Camp Old Hickory normally does not schedule staff members to work all sessions.
  • To apply to be a counselor, fill out the Counselor/Intern application. 

 

Interns

Camp Old Hickory offers an Internship program designed as preparation for becoming a counselor the following summer.

  • Interns are treated as members of the staff.
  • Paired with more experience counselors and given limited duties.
  • Usually given a limited number of weeks per summer.
  • They do not pay any fees to attend their sessions of camp.
  • Do not get paid for their sessions of camp.
  • Must be 14 years old and beginning their freshman year of high school in the fall.
  • Must have been a Counselor-in-Training or have attended Camp Old Hickory as a camper.
  • To apply to be an intern, fill out the Counselor/Intern application.

Counselors-in-Training (CIT)

Camp Old Hickory offers a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is designed to ease the transition from camper to counselor. The Counselors-in-Training assist staff members in the morning and are free to play in the afternoon.

  • CITs must pay a reduced fee to attend camp and are enrolled on a weekly basis.
  • Must be 13 years old and starting the 8th grade in the fall.
  • CIT’s must have attended Camp Old Hickory as a camper.
  • Full payment of $175 per week is due at registration.
  • ½ the CIT registration fee is non-refundable.
  • Children can only attend camp as a CIT for three (3) weeks each summer.
  • We accept a limited number of CIT’s per week.
  • The CIT registration must be completed via our online CIT registration.
